What started as an expression of opinion turned out to be a major war of words for Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor. The ‘Khoobsurat’ actress, famous for her unabashed opinions and uninhibited way of expressing them, took to Twitter to condemn the recent meat ban imposed by the Maharashtra government on the occasion of a Jain festival.
Sonam Kapoor shared an article from a news portal and wrote on Twitter:
“Our country is going to remain a 3rd world nation because of the intolerant misogynistic close minded few. ”
The tweet didn’t go down very well with the twitterati as few of them didn’t concur with Sonam’s idea of calling the ban misogynistic.
Sonam Kapoor, however, defended her stand and said that what she said was actually a critique of the general mentality and not exclusively about meat ban. She also rued the fact that it was mostly women who called her ‘bimbo’ and not just the men.

There were some Twitter users too who supported Sonam Kapoor’s views.
At the end, Sonam Kapoor retraced her steps and said that it’s better she stuck to fashion and brands only as that is what she is known for.
