Sonam Kapoor’s Blind to drop on JioCinema on this date

After her maternity break, Sonam Kapoor is now awaiting the release of her thriller Blind. While it was initially planned as a theatrical, the film will now have a direct-to-digital drop on JioCinema on July 7. Directed by Shome Makhija, the film also stars Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak, Lilette Dubey, and Shubham Saraf. This will also mark Sonam Kapoor’s first digital outing, and her next after The Zoya Factor in 2019.

Blind was shot in 2020 in Scotland. The crime drama revolves around a blind police officer investigating a serial killing case. The statement released by JioCinema describes the film as, “A compelling tale of resilience and determination, Blind promises to bring to life a remarkable central character who triumphs over seemingly insurmountable challenges.”

Recently the director Shome Makhija had shared some stills of Sonam Kapoor from the film, and wrote in the caption, “A glimpse into the world of Blind.” In one of the photos, Sonam carried a gun, seemingly from a training session in the film. The other photos had her caught in some action moments.

In an earlier interview with indianexpress.com, Sonam Kapoor had spoken about her maternity break and how she is raging to make a comeback. She had said, “I think it was the best decision as I got to take some time off. Now, I am getting back and I will be shooting for my films, and a few other things. Blind is releasing next, which was shot just before I got pregnant. So there’s a lot to look forward to.” When asked if she was getting the kind of roles she expects, the actor had said, ‘I don’t know about that, I think everyone also needs to realise that I am coming back to work. Also, I did say no to a lot of work while I was on a break.”

Starting July 9, Blind will stream on JioCinema for free. This is the platform’s second film with a big star, after Shahid Kapoor’s Bloody Daddy.
