Son of Sardaar director Ashwini Dhir’s son Jalaj Dhir and the 18-year-old’s friend died in a car accident on November 23 at Vile Parle, Mumbai. According to the police, Jalaj had invited his friends over to play video games at his home in Goregaon. Later, he and his three other friends went on a drive. After stopping at a restaurant, they were driving back when the vehicle they were travelling in slammed a divider at Western Express Highway.
The police said that at around 3.30am, the four decided to take a joyride in Sahil’s Honda City car. According to the complaint filed by one of his friends who sustained minor injuries, the car was being driven at an average speed of 120-150 (km/hr). When the car reached Sahara Star Hotel, the driver lost control of the car and rammed into the pole of the divider on the highway, as per the complaint.
Jalaj Dhir was a BBA student and was supposed to attend IFFI in Goa with his father whose new film Hisaab Barabar is being premiered. Jalaj’s funeral took place on November 24 at their home in Goregaon, a prayer meeting was conducted yesterday where producer JD Majethia, Rajesh Kumar, and several other prominent personalities were seen in attendance.
