Actors Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani announced they’re expecting their first baby last month. The couple is expecting a child a couple of years after their wedding in February 2023. Now, Sidharth has opened up on parenting for the first time after the announcement. He had a key parental advice to share, irrespective of the gender of the baby.
On Lilly Singh’s podcast, Sidharth said, “Definitely get your boys in check growing up, and that would be my intent whenever in life that a point would come, be it a girl or a boy.” Sidharth also revealed that him and his brother have been raised mostly by their mother, since their father was traveling a lot because he was in merchant navy. “My mom, while growing up, so… my father used to travel a lot, months and months, and we were pretty much raised by her, my elder brother and me. She was a rockstar, playing the role of both the parents at times, and she even did business on the side with her friends,” Sidharth said.
Sidharth recalled that he realised much later that he had a working mom. “In Delhi, we have these bungalows with small garages, right? So, at that time, she and her very close friend used to make a particular kind of design suit and get it from different vendors and have a small boutique store in the garage, which was pretty cool. I didn’t realize that I used to go to that small store in the garage and see different outfits and colors and loiter around as kids. But now, looking back, you realize that all my influences and major happenings of my childhood, she’s been there as a rock. I think she’s been a major influence in both my life and my brother’s life,” the actor added.

Sidharth and Kiara met on the sets of their 2021 period military drama Shershaah, which released directly on Prime Video India. They began dating and tied the knot in Rajasthan in 2023. On February 28 this year, the couple shared a joint Instagram post in which they held a pair of white knitted baby shoes. The caption stated, “The greatest joy of our lives (cupid emoji) Coming soon (red heart, evil eye, and folded hands emojis).”
On the work front, Kiara will be next seen in Ayan Mukerji’s spy thriller War 2, opposite Hrithik Roshan. Also starring Jr NTR, the film is a part of Aditya Chopra’s YRF Spy Universe. She’s also been cast in Farhan Akhtar’s crime drama Don 3, opposite Ranveer Singh. Backed by Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, Don 3 is the threequel in the popular Don franchise. Meanwhile, Sidharth will next star in Tushar Jalota’s romantic comedy Param Sundari opposite Janhvi Kapoor. It’s produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films.
