After Priyanka Chopra recently opened up about allegedly being “cornered” in Bollywood, which forced her to move to the US, actor Shekhar Suman claimed that both he and his son Adhyayan Suman have also experienced bullying in the Hindi film industry, and have been ganged up on.
In a new interview with The Times of India, Shekhar claimed that people in the industry tried to harm his son Adhyayan, who was once earmarked for stardom. When he was asked if his outspoken nature affected Adhyayan’s career, he said that people in the industry “take umbrage to something which is in public perception,” while has has put forward his thoughts and opinions only on a “news network or media.” He also shared that because the people who tried to harm him failed, they “tried to harm” his son instead.
Sharing an incident that made him believe that there were people out there trying to pull Adhyayan down, Shekhar said that “many productions for which Adhyayan was considered, he was suddenly dropped.” Shekhar also revealed that he “got to the bottom of it” to discover that there were “a lot of people operating” who told people, “Don’t take him”.
Adhyayan Suman made his Bollywood debut in 2008, with Haal–e–Dil, and rose to fame with Raaz – The Mystery Continues. After doing a few singles, the 35-year-old was last seen in R Balki’s Chup: Revenge of the Artist (2022). Shekhar declared that after Adhyayan rose to fame with Raaz, “there was a concerted effort against him,” orchestrated by a “whole cabal” working to aid “their people” in going forward, and Adhyayan “stumbled because they created a lot of roadblocks.”
Shekhar also revealed that after a long gap in his career, Adhyayan is all set to make a big comeback as he has been singed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for one of his upcoming projects. He said, “You cannot stop talent. You can try to thwart a talent but it will rise up.”
Shekhar had earlier taken to Twitter to share his plight. He had written, “I know of atleast 4ppl in the industry who have ganged up to have me n adhyayan removed from many projects.i know it for sure. These ‘gangsters’ have a lot of clout and they are more dangerous than a rattle snake. But the truth is they can create hurdles but they cannot stop us.”
