Shahid Kapoor reacts to attack on Saif Ali Khan: ‘This can happen to anyone, happy to see him back and doing well’

At SCREEN Live in Mumbai on Friday, Shahid Kapoor reacted to the attack on Saif Ali Khan during a robbery attempt at his residence.

The attack on Saif Ali Khan during a robbery attempt at his residence left the entire film fraternity in shock. At the latest edition of SCREEN Live in Mumbai on Friday, Shahid Kapoor reacted to the unfortunate incident, saying that it could have happened to anyone and security in residential complexes needs to be taken seriously.

Shahid said, “This can happen with anyone. But, Mumbai is a very safe city and it has always been known to be safe. This is a very shocking incident and everyone is very surprised. There are many cities where these things happen and it’s not a big deal only. But, this can happen to anybody. I am not going to say that celebrities are a soft target.”

He added, “There are lots of people out there who will probably be in a similar situation. Even if it would have happened with a normal individual, we should be as concerned. Because he is a celebrity toh bas uske baare mai baat zyada hoti hai. It is definitely something that we should look into. Security in residential complexes really needs to be taken seriously. I am sure everybody is shocked by what happened. We all are just happy to see that he is back and doing well.”

Saif Ali Khan Khan underwent a series of surgeries in the wake of the attack and was discharged from hospital on Thursday. Meanwhile, Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad, a 30-year-old man of Bangladeshi origin, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing Saif on January 16.

On the work front, Shahid Kapoor was last seen in the romantic comedy Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, alongside Kriti Sanon. He will next star in Deva, which is scheduled to hit the theatres on January 31. The action-thriller, helmed by Rosshan Andrrews, also features Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati and Kubbra Sait in pivotal roles.
