On his 58th birthday, Shah Rukh Khan treated his fans to the teaser of his highly-anticipated film, Dunki. In a heartfelt gesture, the actor met his fans at a special meet-and-greet event, where they collectively witnessed Dunki Drop 1. During this interaction, Shah Rukh shared insights into his upcoming film, helmed by Rajkumar Hirani.
Speaking about how it took almost 2.5 years to make Dunki, SRK said, “We were making the film from 2-2.5 years and today we are showing its first glimpse, its first drop. We are also cool now so we call it a ‘drop’. So, Dunki Drop 1 has arrived and we will keep sharing glimpses of the film.”
Talking about the teaser and the purpose of keeping it short, Shah Rukh Khan said, “We haven’t shown a lot in the teaser. Slowly we will reveal Drop 2 and Drop 3. Raju sir (Rajkumar Hirani) and I were clear that we first wanted to show the world of our film. What am I doing in the film, what Taapsee is doing – this all will be introduced later. Speaking about mein film main mein kya kar raha hu? Kaafi aacha kar raha hu yaar. (I am doing quiet well in the film).”
SRK also lauded Dunki’s director Rajkumar Hirani and said, “The most beautiful thing about Raju sir’s films is that there is no lead actor in his films. The story in his films is the lead. Of course, I am the hero in the film. I will dance, romance, sing in the film. I am romancing after years in a film. The romance is so beautiful in Dunki. But all the actors in the film, apart from the main actors Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu, I think all of us will have an unequal part. I am the lead, I will lead the film. I see Raju sir’s film as a mala. I am the thread that puts all the beads together but I am not the main locket. It’s a theatrical experience working with such wonderful actors and I learnt a lot in this film. Ab agali film main mein aise ke taise karduga acting ki (Now, I will perform superbly in the next film).”
Shah Rukh also revealed that he saw Dunki a few days ago and he is confident that the audience will love his film. He said, “When you see the next few pieces of the film, you will feel happy. I saw the film a few days back. I feel happy when the people around who sit with me to watch the film feel happy with the film and in this film I can sense that everyone from all ages will like it.”
The fan event also witnessed the presence of Dunki’s director Rajkumar Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi.
