‘Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan are not great dancers, but they know what works for their audience,’ says Ahmed Khan

Choreographer Ahmed Khan spoke about working with Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan and said that they are not great dancers.

Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan have been in the movies for over 30 years and still continue to be Bollywood superstars. Not just their acting performances, but their dance numbers too have enthralled the audience. In a recent interview, choreographer Ahmed Khan spoke about working with the three Khans and said that while they are “not great dancers,” they know how to make the dance performance work with their unique style.

Talking to O2 India, Ahmed said that Salman’s “persona is larger than whatever he does.” Ahmed then recalled choreographing “Jumme Ki Raat” from Kick and said, “I gave him a step where he had to move his collar. You can’t do it with another actor because even if he does it well, the audience will question why is he doing it? Because of Salman’s persona, it has an impact on the audience.”

He then spoke about Shah Rukh Khan and said that he is quite a charmer. “Shah Rukh is very charming. You can make him jump… I made him dress up as a clown in one song. Like in ‘Chand Taare’ (Yes Boss), he throws a bucket of popcorn in the air but pearls fall down. This is Shah Rukh’s charm… rags to riches,” he said. Speaking of Aamir Khan, he said that the actor can play a tapori in Rangeela, and also a multi-millionaire in Ghajini, and can easily fit into both worlds.

Ahmed shared, “These guys are not great dancers but they know what to do, how to perform in a particular music, with particular lyrics, and what their audience will like. So they come with their inputs in terms of persona. They will never say what they want to do. Whatever you make them do, they will do it in their own style and it will work.”
