After a hiatus of four-long years, Shah Rukh Khan reclaimed his position as the undisputed king of Bollywood in 2023. With the massive success of Pathaan and Jawan and the recently released Dunki, SRK has proven that he is here to stay.

During an interaction with CNN journalist Richard Quest at ‘The Making of a Star: A Conversation with Shah Rukh Khan’ at the World Government Summit held in Dubai, the DDLJ actor revealed that he he has a ritual on the eve of his film’s release.

“In India, films mostly release on Fridays, so on Thursday evenings, at my home in Mumbai, a day before my movie releases, I give myself a two-and-a-half-hour bath and rinse myself of all my work,” revealed SRK, adding that taking the bath-salt dips were deeply satisfying for him.

Shah Rukh Khan, who experimented with his roles in Fan and Zero, while speaking about the uncertainty of films, added that the results of making the films are almost instant and sudden, often taking one by surprise. “You work hard, thinking you made the best of films, and you’re telling the nicest of stories, expecting the world to love it. But you wake up on a Friday morning and the film that you made with so much love, flops. Oftentimes, you don’t like the film that you’re making and those become the biggest hits,” the Don star shared, stressing that if his film performed well on Friday, he still has to go back to work on Monday to outdo what he has done.

Similarly, if it tanked, you cry over the weekend. You mop and don’t get out of bed on Saturday and Sunday, you have to return to the sets to make better cinema,” said Shah Rukh, emphasisng, “We must not forget that you have to say your prayers and go back to work. So Mondays are dedicated to trying to make better films.”
