Designer Gauri Khan has launched her coffee table book My Life In Design, and husband Shah Rukh Khan has written the foreword for the book. A Twitter user shared the foreword which has Shah Rukh discussing how Gauri started designing in the first place.
In the foreword, SRK talked about the time when they bought their first house and were expecting their first-born Aryan. He shared, “Needless to say, it was beyond our means, but we needed a living space, because we were expecting Aryan. So, the choice was made, that we would try and buy stuff as and when we had the money. We could not afford a designer so the job was taken over by Gauri.”
Shah Rukh Khan then recalled the time when they went to buy a sofa and found it to be too expensive, and thus Gauri started her journey of designing. “We once went to buy a sofa, but since it was too expensive, we just bought the leather for the sofa on one of my travels and waited for some carpenter to build what Gauri had designed in a notebook,” the actor wrote.
“The task of designing her own house, which was rather big, the appreciation of friends and the sheer determination to make sure that our home was what we always desired egged her on to learn new things. She trained herself to understand spaces and figure out how basic amenities, logistics and beauty come together to make a home,” the actor shared.
Gauri Khan previously hosted a show called Dream Homes With Gauri Khan where she redesigned spaces of celebrity houses. Fans saw a glimpse of her design store in Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives.
