Bollywood actor Sara Ali Khan, daughter of well-known stars Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, maintains that all the connections and relationships that she has forged in the Hindi film industry, she has done it all by herself. She assured that neither of her star parents is behind those relationships. Sara, who made her Bollywood debut in the 2018 film Kedarnath, recently made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival.

In a new interview, Sara shared that her mother Amrita Singh has rarely had any friends in the film industry, thus, all the equations she has made with the people in the industry, is her doing. “Every relationship I have established in the film fraternity has been very independent equation, which is very nice because I have never felt the pressure to follow through with my father’s friends or my mother’s friends,” Sara told Film Companion.

She added that even her mother has constantly advised her to carve her path and chart her own journey instead of depending on her parents. Sara shared, “She (Amrita) says, ‘Everyone has their own journey, and you should chalk out your own and this is not for me.'”

During the interview, Sara also mentioned what she has taken from each of her parents. She said, “My father is a thinker, he is a bit of a planner, he is a traveller and I have inherited that from him. Mum is happy to be on her own and not explore much. My father has the need to explore, travel, eat different kinds of food, and see the whole world. Mom is the epitome of strings, she is emotionally very strong. She sleeps with a lot of peace. I don’t think I have her peace as yet. But, both of us are emotional beings at the core. She has never pretended to be somebody that she is not.”

Sara made her red carpet debut at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. While on the red carpet, the Simmba actor realised how much more she has to do in her life and how she is ‘just a small fish’ in a big sea.

Sharing what her thoughts were on the red carpet, Sara said, “It’s kind of a reality check. Media back home has spoilt me a little bit. So, suddenly you realise just how small a fish you are in what is not even a pond but a sea literally and how much further you have to go and push the boundaries.”

Sara Ali Khan is awaiting the release of Laxman Utekar’s film Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, where she is cast opposite Vicky Kaushal. The film will hit the theaters on June 2. After the rom-com, she has Ae Watan Mere Watan and Murder Mubarak in the pipeline.
