Sanjay Dutt has played some very intense roles in the recent past. However, the actor says he is now wanting to do romantic films and is open to doing a film like his 1991 blockbuster Saajan, also starring Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit. Sanjay expressed his desire to do a romantic film at the launch of Double iSmart song “Big Bull” in Mumbai.

Sanjay said, “Will do romance if any good film comes. My generation worked for mass so we are massy heroes. I did Saajan one time. It was a good film with good songs. I can do one more Saajan.” Sanjay played Sagar, a disabled man in Saajan, directed by Lawrence D’Souza. In the film, his character sacrifices his love for his brother, played by Salman. The movie starred Madhuri as the female lead.

Saajan is one of the rare romantic films in Sanjay Dutt’s acting career, as he has mainly featured in action movies. He has also done some remarkable work as a villain in Yash’s KGF Chapter 2 and Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath. In Double iSmart, directed by Puri Jagannadh and headlined by Ram Pothineni, Sanjay plays an antagonist again.

About playing a negative role in his recent films, Sanjay said that he’s enjoying doing these roles as it gives him an opportunity to do a “lot of action”. He said, “Negative is a good space to be in. One can do a lot. I get to do a lot of action. It’s good that there is something to do for actors after so many films.”

Double iSmart is a sequel to Ram Pothineni and Puri Jagannadh’s 2019 film iSmart Shankar. The movie is scheduled to be released in theatres on Independence Day, August 15 in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
