Ayaan Lall, who worked on the Salman Khan-starrer Sikandar, defended the actor against allegations of being late to set. Director AR Murugadoss had alleged that Salman’s tardiness disrupted the production, and sometimes kept children waiting until late at night. Ayaan said that Salman is an ‘angel’ sent to Earth by God, and that he has more to do in his life than entertain people. He cited Salman’s recent philanthropic efforts amid the Punjab floods, and said that he disagrees with Murugadoss’ allegations about the actor keeping the crew waiting for eight hours.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, he said, “I have never seen an angel this close to planet Earth. It’s like God has picked that man and put him here. I don’t have words for Salman sir. Being in his presence, I feel like a special being. He would meet everyone on set, all 300 of them. He’ll shout at you, he’ll scream at you, but in the end, he’ll say, ‘Ghar pe aake khana khana’.”

Asked about Murugadoss’ allegations against Salman, Ayaan said, “I was called at 3 pm, and by 5:30 pm, sir was there. Listen, he’s a star. He’s the biggest star in this country. He has other things to do. Ab the Punjab floods have come; he has to take care of that also na? He isn’t just an actor. He’s the biggest Bhai of this country. He’s an icon. He isn’t just making a movie for entertainment. He has a lot of people to take care of, and God has sent him for that reason. So, if you have to wait a couple of hours, there’s no big deal.”

When it was pointed out that Murugadoss had said he was made to wait for eight hours, Ayaan said, “I have seen him call up people and inform them that he won’t be able to come on time. Then don’t wait eight hours no? If someone is telling you that they will reach at 12, then don’t start waiting for them in the morning. He has a lot of things to do; on a daily basis, he touches crores of people. It’s not easy being Salman Khan.”

“It’s not easy to shoot with a star. Even day scenes, we have to shoot at night because he turns up to sets only by 8 pm. We are people who are used to shooting right from early mornings, but that’s not how things work there,” he told Valaipechu Voice, adding, “Almost everything was shot on green mat and we used VFX extensively to get the daylight effect for the scenes that were shot at night. On top of that, multiple people used to suggest a lot of spot changes on the set in the script.”
