Bollywood star Salman Khan on Wednesday took a jibe at the young actors in the Hindi film industry stating how the ‘five of them’ (Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan) will give them a run for their money. At the 68th Filmfare Awards 2023 press conference, the actor was asked who among the new lot of actors has managed to impress him.

Sharing that all of them are talented, focused and hardworking, Salman said that he and his contemporaries are not giving up so easily. Naming himself, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan, he added, “We will make them run for their money. We are not retiring anytime soon. Our films also work and so we hike our fees. Seeing that, they also increase their fee even when their films are not working.”

Salman Khan said that he has been hearing it for a long time that Hindi films are not working. However, he reasoned that the wrong films are being made and hence they fail at the box office. He added that while filmmakers feel they are making the best films, it’s not the case.

“Today filmmakers have a different understanding of India. They feel it’s from Andheri to Colaba. The filmmakers that I have met and interacted; they are too cool. They make that kind of content. However, Hindustan is way different. They start from the east of the railway stations,” he shared.

As he spoke, Salman Khan erupted in a loud laugh stating that while he is talking about content, his film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is up for release. “I hope my words don’t come to bite me. Bhari nahi padhna chaiye… People shouldn’t question what kind of a film have I made. It is releasing on April 21 and I hope everyone likes it,” he quipped.
