Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap has accused Salman Khan and his family of interfering with the making of his debut film and allegedly stealing credits from him. In a recent interaction with Bollywood Thikana, Abhinav elaborated on how Salman cut Arbaaz Khan’s role in the film and claimed to have witnessed a heated argument between the brothers over the same.

Abhinav accuses Salman of kidnapping Dabangg’s editor

He said, “Salman used to come in my room at 1:30 am. He came and saw that Arbaaz has a chase sequence in the film, and he removed it completely. He has insecurity. He wanted to be seen.” Commenting on the relationship between Salman and Arbaaz Khan, Abhinav said, “These brothers hate each other, but I don’t know why they live together. It’s a very difficult family to understand. Arbaaz must have questioned Salman in private about his cut role, but they didn’t fight in front of me.”

He added, “But once Arbaaz and Salman had a fight in front of me during which Salman threw utensils and I got scared. He told Arbaaz, ‘I won’t think bad of you.’ I tried to prevent the fight, but Salman told me, ‘You are not even here.’ So he told me to stay out of it.”

Abhinav also claimed that Salman once kidnapped the film’s editor to gain complete control over the film. “Salman kidnapped my editor and the editing machine and took him to his farmhouse. He then allowed him to return only after the editor explained to him about voltage fluctuation at the farmhouse. Salman also once warned my editor, saying that if the director teases with the film, I will push cylinder in his back.”

‘Arbaaz did not want Malaika Arora to do Munni Badnaam Hui’

Abhinav went on to reveal that Arbaaz Khan wasn’t comfortable with Malaika Arora performing the item song “Munni Badnaam Hui” in the film. “They were uncomfortable with Malaika’s presentation in the song. They were worried that her presentation would be vulgar because ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ was a raunchy song. But I had assured them. Malaika had already created her own space in item songs, just like her stepmother-in-law, Helen. I wanted her, and I fought to have her in the song. They didn’t want her in the song. Arbaaz specifically did not want Malaika to do that song.”

Malaika, who was married to Arbaaz Khan at the time, has a son with him, Arhaan Khan. After divorcing Malaika in 2017, Arbaaz married makeup artist Sshura Khan, and they recently welcomed their first child. Malaika, meanwhile, went on to date Arjun Kapoor, but the couple eventually broke up.

‘Boney Kapoor interfered with Dabangg making’

Abhinav also accused Boney Kapoor of interfering during the shooting of Dabangg. “Boney Kapoor was one more interfering character. My film was supposed to wrap up in 70 days, but Boney Kapoor was jealous, and then the film got completed in 200 days. He said, ‘How can Salman’s film be finished in 70 days.’ He provoked Salman and ruined the entire film story.”

Abhinav also shared that Salman had even asked him to write a story for Arjun Kapoor, son of Boney Kapoor, and recalled how Arjun would be present on the sets to observe the shooting process. “I think he was seeing Arpita then. I don’t know,” he said.
