Actor Renuka Shahane became a household name after essaying the role of Pooja in Sooraj Barjatya’s Hum Aapke Hai Koun. The film had her sharing the screen with Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit for the first time and she was in awe of the fact that both the actors were so comfortable with the baby and the dog (Tuffy) in the movie. She was also apprehensive about dancing with Salman and Madhuri in the film’s song “Lo Chali Main”.

During one of her interviews with Rajshri, Renuka shared that she was ‘pleasantly’ surprised with Salman being able to handle the dog and the baby on the Hum Aapke Hai Koun set.

She said, “Salman and Madhuri were comfortable with the baby and Tuffy equally. Not every actor can do this. Especially, Salman used to handle them so well. It is now that we know that he loves animals and babies. But at that time I was pleasantly surprised.”

Renuka Shahane started shooting for Huma Aapke Hai Koun in 1992. The first scene she shot was with Salman whom she had met for the first time. It was the scene where Prem (Salman) tells Pooja Bhabhi (Renuka) about being in love on their way to her mother’s home. The scene was shot in Ooty. During the scene, Salman often told Renuka that they can end up in an accident since the roads were not smooth. Renuka shared, “He was telling me again and again that I can do accidents also. I told him I don’t mind getting into an accident at such a pretty place.”

Salman also ‘encouraged’ Renuka to dance in the song ‘Lo Chali Main’ as she was nervous to match the steps with him and Madhuri. Shahane revealed, “I was so scared to dance with Madhuri and Salman. But, both of them encouraged me so much. We have shot for this song while having so much fun.”

Hum Aapke Hai Koun released in the theaters in 1994. The film was a humongous hit and it continues to enjoy a cult status among the fans of Hindi cinema.
