Shera, who has been Salman Khan’s bodyguard for 29 years, recently reminisced about his first meeting with the actor and how it was Sohail Khan who recommended him to be the security-in-charge of the Dabangg star. Shera also confidently expressed that after spending decades with the actor, he is certain that no one else could manage Bhai as well as he does.
Speaking to Zoom, Shera shared, “I have been with Salman for 29 years. So many bodyguards switch actors, but I’ve stayed with him for all these years. I don’t think anyone else can manage Bhai.”
Recalling the first time he met Salman, Shera said, “I met Salman Khan through Sohail Khan for the first time during a show. Sohail wanted security for Salman because there was some issue at a stage show. At that time, I used to wear a turban. When Sohail Bhai saw me, he said, ‘Why don’t you be with Salman Bhai?’ I agreed and initially, I was with him only during the shows; it wasn’t a regular thing. Slowly, I bonded with Bhai, and that relationship has endured to this day. Our bond is so strong. I am a Sardar, he is a Pathaan, and our jodi just clicks. I told Bhai, ‘Jab tak mein hu, tab tak mein apki seva karunga.’ (As long as I am here, I will serve you).”
Shera was recently in the news for buying a Range Rover Sport worth Rs 1.4 crore. He shared a photo with his new swanky wheels and wrote, “With the blessings of the almighty 🙏🏻 we welcome the new member in the house 🚙.”
Born as Gurmeet Singh into a Sikh family in Andheri (Manish Nagar), Mumbai, Shera had a passion for bodybuilding before entering the Bollywood world and Salman’s life. He won several contests, including Mr Mumbai and placed second in Mr Maharashtra.
