After a good second weekend, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is having a decent run in theatres during its second week as well. In fact, the film showed a day-to-day uptick in figures on Tuesday, when it earned Rs 4.50 cr, reported industry tracker Sacnilk. On its second Monday, the film had made Rs 4.30 cr.
With this, the film’s total nett collection in India comes to Rs 113.88 cr. While Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani brings relief to its lead actor Ranveer Singh after a string of flops, it continues Alia Bhatt’s winning streak at the ticket counters, establishing her position as a bankable star in the film industry. In 2022, Alia had three theatrical releases, Gangubai Kathiawadi (Rs 129.10 cr), RRR (Rs 274.31 cr), and Brahmastra (Rs 257.44 cr), all of which did solid business at the ticket counters.
The film also marks a comeback to form for Karan Johar, whose last feature film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, couldn’t attract people to cinema halls despite being a Diwali release. Upon its release in 2016, the film earned Rs 112.48 cr. This week, the film will face competition from Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 and Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2. Gadar 2, a sequel to the superhit 2001 film Gadar, is witnessing some good advance booking trends. The film has already sold over 1.3 lakh tickets.
Seeing the interest around Gadar 2, cinema chain owners are planning to give major slots to the Sunny Deol-starrer, replacing Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Bollywood Hungama has reported. The report further states that KJo is in talks with the theatre chain owners to ensure his film gets proper shows during the Independence Day weekend.
