Actor Renuka Shahane, known for her role in the 1994 film Hum Aapke Hain Koun, shared an interesting anecdote about her children’s reaction to the movie. She said that when her kids were around eight years old, they initially refused to watch the film. However, they eventually watched it after their classmates kept talking about it. Renuka revealed that her elder son became upset after watching her character’s death scene, and expressed anger towards director Sooraj Barjatya.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Renuka said, “I showed my kids Hum Aapke Hain Koun when they were eight to 10 years old, and that time, they did not want to watch the film. For them, ‘Mumma was just a mumma and she cannot be an actress.’ So initially, they did not watch the full film.”
She added, “When they became a bit old, say 10-12 years old, the kids in their class had been told by their parents that I was in Hum Aapka Hain Koun. So the class kids were like, ‘Wow, your mom is an actor.’ So, one day, the kids came and said, ‘We want to watch the full film.’ But when I died in the film, my elder son was furious. He was like, ‘If I ever see Sooraj ji…’ They were so badly affected.”
Renuka was earlier married to Vijay Kenkare. After divorcing Vijay, Renuka got married to Ashutosh Rana. The couple have two sons Shauryaman and Satyendra. Hum Aapke Hain Koun was helmed by Sooraj Barjatya. The cast also includes Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Mohnish Bahl, Anupam Kher, Reema Lagoo, Alok Nath, Bindu, Ajit Vachani, and Himani Shivpuri.
