Renuka Shahane shares a beautiful note for Ashutosh Rana on their wedding anniversary: ‘Looking back at 22 years of love…’

The actor’s post was met with several comments from the couple’s colleagues and friends. Actor Mahhi Vij commented, “Happy anniversary”, actor Archana Puran Singh commented, “Many congratulations to the both of you”. Actor Anup Soni dropped heart emoticons on Renuka’s post.

Renuka and Ashutosh met on the sets of Hansal Mehta’s film Jayate but the film never saw the light of the day. Ashutosh contacted Renuka by dropping a Diwali wish on her voicemail and hoping she would call back.  Renuka returned the call and gave her personal number to the actor. Eventually, Ashutosh confessed her love to Renuka over a call, when the latter was shooting in Goa. He recited a poem to her, hoping to hear the same from her. The couple dated for three years before tying the knot in 2001.

The couple got married in Madhya Pradesh, Ashutosh’s hometown. Earlier, in an interview to Midday, Renuka had revealed that people predicted their marriage would be over soon. She said, “A lot of people said, ‘Kya kar rahi ho? You’re getting married to this (proceeds to mimic Ashutosh’s iconic hand gesture from the film Sangharsh)’. Some people were very worried for me. But I assured them that they should be worried for him. I’m capable of looking after myself. But it has been a great journey. To tell you frankly, marriage is a gamble, even if you’re in love. There’s no guarantee things will work out in your favour. People can grow in two different ways, and not get along as husband and wife. Or, people can be great friends, but not great partners.”
