Actor Ravi Kishan opened up about why he wasn’t cast in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur, and said that it was because somebody had spread gossip about him to the filmmaker. He admitted that some of what was said about him was true, but a lot wasn’t. In an interview, he confirmed that he did, indeed, used to bathe with milk.
In an interview with Shubhankar Mishra on YouTube, Ravi Kishan said that he was up for a major role in the film, but didn’t specify which one. “I used to bathe in milk. I used to enjoy it. Somebody told this to Anurag Kashyap. I am an eccentric, that’s why I’m an artist. If I was a normal person, I would be working in an office, carrying a tiffin box to work. Anurag said that he didn’t have the budget for my demands, and that’s why I lost the film. Somebody spread some other rumours about me as well. Everyone in that movie broke out afterwards.”
This isn’t the first time that Ravi Kishan has spoken about his bizarre behaviours. In an appearance on Aap Ki Adalat, he had said, “Main doodh se nahata tha aur gulaab ki pankhuriyon pe sota tha. Mujhe aisa lagta tha ke main actor hoon aur yeh sab bahut zaroori hai. Log jab aapko Al Pacino aur Robert De Niro ki filmein dikhane lagte hain, aur bolte hain ke yeh actors aisa karte they, tum bhi karo… Godfather 500 baar dikha diye, aur main desi breed ka kalakar. Khair, yeh sab naatak kiye they ki isse mahaul banta hai. Mujhe lagta tha ke main doodh se naha ke jaunga toh yeh charcha rahegi ki yeh doodh se nahata hai (It’s true, I used to bathe in milk and sleep on rose petals. I used to think of myself as a big star; I thought this was important. People would show me Al Pacino and Robert De Niro’s films, and tell me how they used to behave. I was shown The Godfather 500 times, but I’m a desi performer. So, yes, I used to make these demands. I thought if I bathe in milk, people would talk about it).”
Anurag and Ravi Kishan went on to work together in the film Mukkaabaaz, but they locked horns after Ravi took a stance against drug abuse in Parliament. In an interview with journalist Faye D’Souza, Anurag said, “Ravi Kishan acted in my last film Mukkabaaz. Ravi Kishan starts his day by saying Jai Shiv Shankar, Jai Bam Bhole. Jai Shiv Shambhu. For the longest period of his time, he has been somebody who has used weed. It is life. Everybody knows it. The whole world knows. There’s not a single person who doesn’t know that Ravi Kishan does not smoke up. He might have quit now, that he has become a minister, he might have cleaned up.”
