Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in pivotal roles, has emerged as a massive success at the box office, raking in over Rs 900 crore worldwide and securing the 5th spot among the highest grossers of 2023. Despite the film’s immense success, speculations about Rashmika’s increased remuneration post-Animal have been refuted by the actor herself.
Responding to an online portal’s claim that she is now charging between Rs 4 to Rs 4.5 crore per film following the success of Animal, Rashmika jokingly remarked, “Says who I wonder 🤦🏻♀️.. after seeing all of this I think I should actually consider it.. and if my producers ask why.. then I’ll just say ‘media out there is saying this sir.. and I think I should live up to their words.. what do I do?’ 🤣.”
While Animal proved to be a blockbuster, it also faced criticism for its overt violence and misogynistic tone. In an earlier interview with Pinkvilla, Rashmika defended filmmaker Sandeep, saying, “He’s just like, ‘This is the story I want to tell,’ and he sticks by it. He doesn’t change according to what people want him to change. So, I love that. I think that man should be protected, and he has to be like that for the rest of his life.”
Regardless of any changes in fees, Rashmika has an array of projects lined up, including the highly anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule alongside Allu Arjun. Additionally, she is set to star in Telugu films like Rainbow and The Girlfriend. She will also appear opposite Vicky Kaushal in director Laxman Utekar’s upcoming film Chaava.
