Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt cut her birthday celebrations short to attend Ayan Mukerji’s dad Deb Mukerjee’s funeral; Kajol, Karan Johar pay last respects

Alia and Ranbir had left for Alibaug to celebrate Alia’s 32nd birthday on March 15. But looks like they have cut the celebration short to be by Ayan’s side. Alia and Ranbir had a short pre-birthday celebration and meet and greet with the media a day earlier. They were spotted leaving for Alibaug via the jetty from the Gateway of India.

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor were a part of Ayan Mukerji’s film Brahmastra, while Ranbir has also worked with the director in Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Deb Mukherjee, who was an actor himself, was 83 years old and had reportedly been unwell for several months.

Actor Kajol, along with her son Yug; Jaya Bachchan, filmmaker Karan Johar, and a few others were also seen arriving at Deb Mukerjee’s funeral.

Deb Mukherjee was Kajol’s uncle, and his grand durga puja pandal often attracted many celebrities. He was known for his roles in films such as Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki (1978), Baaton Baaton Mein (1979), Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992) and Kaminey (2009).

Deb Mukerji’s funeral is scheduled to take place at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu on March 14 at 4 pm.
