The Kapoor family met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to personally invite him to the Raj Kapoor Film Festival. The festival, organised to celebrate Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary, is set to commence on December 13. A video from the meeting, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, and other members of the Kapoor family sharing their experiences of interacting with the Prime Minister, was shared online.

In the video, Ranbir Kapoor admitted that while they were all quite nervous about meeting the PM, his warm and generous demeanor put them at ease. “We enjoyed speaking to him. We could ask him a lot of personal questions. He talked to us in a very friendly manner. Hum sab ki hawa tight thi, we were very nervous, but he made us feel very comfortable, and I really thank him,” he said.

Kareena Kapoor revealed that it has been a long-time dream of hers to have a conversation with Prime Minister Modi, and she was delighted to fulfill it on the occasion of her grandfather’s 100th birth anniversary. “His energy is so positive and peaceful. He is truly a global leader,” she said. Alia also lauded PM Modi’s energy and appreciated the way he welcomed the Kapoor family. “He gave us many suggestions about how we can take Raj Kapoor’s legacy forward and educate the people about his achievements. It’s a proud moment for the family,” she said.

Saif shared his experience and said, “It was a nice feeling to meet the nation’s leader. He gave a nice suggestion that we should make a documentary on Raj Kapoor’s soft power in central and east Europe.” Riddhima Kapoor Sahni added, “It felt like he a part of our family. My life became successful today after meeting Modi ji.”

The Raj Kapoor Film Festival, inaugurated by the Kapoor family, will showcase 10 of Raj Kapoor’s iconic films across 40 cities.
