He added that Sunaina’s approach to life helped him deal with both cancer and the shooting episode. “I took it very lightly even when I got shot. I used to joke with them even then so that they don’t feel that life is going towards a darker space. I did the same thing when I got cancer. Hrithik (Roshan) and I were working out on the morning of the day I was going for my surgery,” he added.

Rakesh also gave a mention to his support system, wife Pinkie Roshan, for being there during all these years and for ‘adjusting’ with him despite coming from ‘an affluent family’, specifically when he was going through a rough patch professionally.

“She married me when I was earning Rs 200 as an AD. She took up 80 percent of the burden and said that she’s happy with me,” he shared.

Hrithik Roshan’s dad also recalled his idea to launch him as an actor and said, “I joined the industry as an assistant when I was 21 and that’s also a very young age. So, I told myself that when Hrithik is 24 or 25, only then will I launch him as an actor and that’s what I did.”
