Actor Rajshri Deshpande, who essayed the role of Subhadra, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife in the popular Netflix crime drama, Sacred Games, recently revealed that she was tagged as a “porn actor” after her intimate scene with Nawazuddin went viral on social media.
In a recent chat with Zoom, Rajshri shared that her intimate scene from Sacred Games not only went viral but was also morphed and misused. “After Sacred Games season one, the scene went viral and it got morphed, it got into another kind of film everywhere. Social media posts were written about me,” said Rajshri.
The actor also mentioned that though the scene also involved Nawazuddin, director Anurag Kashyap, editor and DOP, nobody asked them any questions. But, she was questioned about her choices. “Nobody said that Nawaz was also a part of it, nobody asked Anurag why did you shoot it, nobody asked the editor why did you cut it. The only person who was asked, ‘Why did you do it?’ was me. If a journalist is writing, ‘a porn actor’…. today my whole identity is just Sacred Games actor. Even Trial By Fire hasn’t reached the way Sacred Games has,” shared Rajshri.
However, the actor, who has also been a part of other Netflix shows, Fame Game and Trial By Fire, said she doesn’t want to “cry” over what has happened but she wants a “discussion” on the issue. “Somethings need to change,” concluded Rajshri.
Earlier, in an interview with The Indian Express, Rajshri had shared that she was not at all uncomfortable during the filming of the intimate scenes and Nawazuddin made sure that she was comfortable. She also said, “I’m glad that I got to play Subhadra as she is a very important part in Gaitonde’s life. What I’ve portrayed is consensual love. Unfortunately, our society doesn’t want to discuss this. We don’t talk about menstruation, forget sex.”
Meanwhile, several cases of deepfake videos and audio, including faces of popular actors have emerged recently. Rashmika Mandanna was one of the victims of one such deepfake video.
