Actor Rajpal Yadav, who was recently seen in the Netflix film Kathal, shared what happened when his 2003 film Hungama was played at his home and his mother saw it for the first time. In most of the scenes of the Priyadarshan film, Yadav is being beaten up. After watching those scenes, his mother got genuinely worried. She was so concerned that she stopped watching the movie and walked away.
Yadav, in a new interview, shared how he could never bring his mother to Mumbai as she can’t travel. So, he tried to make her watch his film at home itself. “Hungama was played at my home and my family watched it. Even my mother watched it. So, I asked her ‘Did you watch it?’ The first thing she said was, “Kitna pitte hai log tujhe (People beat you up so much),” Yadav shared with Bollywood Hungama, while adding that his mother stopped watching the film after he was slapped twice.
Yadav tried to calm his mother down by telling her that all the beating that happens on the screen is not real. “I told her ‘Amma, this is not real, this is reel. After the scene, we hug each other. I told her that there are scenes like this in the film so that the movie becomes a hit,” the actor added.
However, his mother still refused to watch her son getting beaten up and Yadav understands, “It is difficult for a mother to see her son being thrashed.”
Hungama also starred Akshaye Khanna, Aftab Shivdasani, Rimi Sen, and Paresh Rawal. Yadav portrayed the character of Raja, an innocent man caught in the midst of the chaos.
Yadav had earlier revealed that Hungama changed his life. In an earlier interview with Outlook, he said, “Hungama’ changed my life – Iss film ne meri art ko aate se joda hai (this film has helped me earn money). With ‘Jungle’, I was established as an actor, all thanks to Ram Gopal Verma Ji. However, with ‘Hungama’ I got respect, fame, name, and, of course, money.”
