Following the roaring success of Aryan Khan’s directorial debut The Ba***ds of Bollywood, one moment that has unexpectedly captured the nation’s imagination is actor Raghav Juyal singing “Kaho Na Kaho” in front of Emraan Hashmi himself. The clip has not only transcended meme culture but has also firmly placed Raghav back in the spotlight. After making a mark last year with the action-packed Kill, Raghav seems to have taken another major leap in his career with Aryan’s debut project. Yet, behind his well-earned success lies a story of simple beginnings.

Raghav’s journey started long before the big screen. His first brush with fame came through a viral dance video that opened the doors to the reality show Dance India Dance, where he soon became known nationwide as the “King of Slow Motion.” But the path to recognition was far from glamorous. In a chat with Yuvaa, Raghav opened up about his early days in Mumbai and the hardships he faced with endearing honesty.

“When I arrived, I had nothing. But I also used to enjoy that phase. I was never sad, thinking, ‘Oh, see, I have nothing.’ I enjoyed everything to the fullest. I had the best time eating vada pavs. When I was a dancer, I used to live with ten boys in one room. Our fridge didn’t work, so we used to store our undergarments in it and use it as a cupboard. So, if someone visited us and opened the fridge by mistake, they’d be stunned to see undergarments inside.”

Raghav had earlier shared another candid memory in a conversation with NDTV, recalling his first visit to Mannat, the iconic sea-facing home of Shah Rukh Khan. “The first time I entered Mannat, there was a scanner like the ones at the airport,” Raghav recalled, adding, “I had to go through it because people were like, ‘Who is this guy? Has someone come to find work?’” He laughed as he remembered asking Aryan where his room was once he stepped inside, only for Aryan to simply laugh it off. Now, Raghav is reportedly part of Siddharth Anand’s highly anticipated actioner King, in which Shah Rukh Khan plays the titular role. It’s a project that, as Raghav hinted in recent interviews, came his way after Shah Rukh was deeply impressed by his performance in The Ba***ds of Bollywood.
