While Akshay Kumar‘s OMG 2 has been performing decently well at the box office in its first week, it is evident that it is bearing the brunt of clashing with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s Gadar 2 which is turning out to be one of the biggest hits of the year. The Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam Dhar starrer earned Rs 5.25 crore on its seventh day in the theatres taking its nett total to Rs 84.72 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.

The film’s worldwide collection currently stands at Rs 111.8 crore, with Rs 18 crore from the overseas market. OMG 2 already outdone the original film which had earned Rs 81.46 crore during its run in cinemas. The film has been received extremely well by the audience and critics and has been hailed for it’s social message.

The film’s A certificate is being questioned by the actors and the creators of the film as they have been pushing for a US certificate.

Akshay Kumar, on Thursday, took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank the audience for showering their love on his film. He wrote, “A big thank you to our audiences for all the love for #OhMyGadar and giving us the greatest week in Indian Film History!  प्यार और आभार🙏🏻 #Gadar2 in cinemas #OMG2 in cinemas.”

Along with a thank you note, Akshay also shared a video with him singing Gadar 2 song “Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava…” as an ode to the Sunny Deol starrer and celebrating the biggest weekend in cinemas.
