OMG 2 box office collection Day 10: Akshay Kumar film holds its ground amidst Jailer-Gadar 2 rampage, earns Rs 114.31 cr

On its 10th day in theatres on Sunday, OMG 2 collected approximately Rs 12.70 crore (nett), according to early estimates shared by industry tracker Sacnilk, representing a growth of 20.61 per cent compared to the earnings on Saturday. This has taken its overall India nett to Rs 114.31 crore.

Simultaneously, the movie has achieved a global total of Rs 142 crore, propelled by a domestic gross of Rs 120 crore and an additional Rs 22 crore from overseas collections. Meanwhile, the film is expected to earn about Rs 3.35 crore (nett) on Monday.

On Sunday, the Akshay Kumar comedy drama witnessed an overall 58.05 per cent Hindi occupancy. Helmed by Amit Rai, OMG 2 stars Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, and Pavan Malhotra in key roles, alongside Akshay.

Initially, during the morning shows, the movie recorded a substantial 32.59 per cent occupancy within the Hindi market. As the day unfolded, the percentages experienced a consistent increase: rising to 64.89 per cent during the afternoon shows and reaching 76.73 per cent during the evening shows. However, the film saw a dip in the occupancy for the night screenings and recorded 58 per cent.

On the other hand, while Rajinikanth’s Jailer recorded an India nett of Rs 18.5 crore on Sunday, Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 eked out a monumental Rs 41 crore.

Previously, amidst widespread rumours regarding the film’s budget, where a segment of social media suggested it exceeded Rs 150 crore, Ajit Andhare, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Viacom18 Studios, which co-produced the movie alongside Cape of Good Films and Wakaoo Films, had dispelled these speculations and firmly stated that the circulating figures are far from accurate.

“The reports of the budget of OMG 2 are grossly exaggerated. On the contrary, Akshay (Kumar) didn’t charge a rupee in fee and in fact, walked alongside us in both the financial and creative risk involved in such a courageous film,” Andhare told Pinkvilla.

Awarding 3.5 stars out of 5, The Indian Express’ Shubhra Gupta wrote in her review of OMG 2: “It’s been a while since I enjoyed an Akshay Kumar performance as much as this one. And I haven’t been taken by surprise as much as I was in OMG 2, in the best way possible.”

Renowned actor Anupam Kher recently watched OMG 2, and heaped praise on the film and actor Akshay Kumar. Labelling the film as spectacular, stylish and very important, Kher noted on social media while sharing a photo with Akshay: “A film on #SexEducation with ease and wonderful aesthetics! It was houseful. Saw parents with their teenage children. Obviously the film has struck a chord with the audiences! Full marks to writer/director Amit Rai. Pankaj Tripathi is BRILLIANT. He makes acting look easy but I know there is huge preparation behind it. Yami Gautam is beautifully sharp & excellent. I loved Pavan Malhotra as the judge.”
