Filmmaker Om Raut says his upcoming ambitious epic Adipurush is a mighty film which belongs to the audience— and the Gods. During the final trailer launch of the Prabhas-starrer on Tuesday evening, Raut made a unique request to the producers and distributors of the film.
Backed by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, Adipurush is set to release in theatres on June 16 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Raut requested makers that one seat in every show of the film should be kept vacant for Lord Hanuman, wherever it is playing across the world.
“My mom says, every time Ramayan is staged, Hanuman ji comes to watch it. So my request to Bhushan sir, Anil (Thadani, the distributor) sir, that for our Hanuman ji, in every show of Adipurush, one seat should be kept vacant. Everywhere in the world, wherever there is an Adipurush show, I request the producer and distributor to keep one seat for Hanuman ji, he will come to see Ramayan,” Raut said as he started tearing up. Prabhas, who was standing next to the filmmaker, gave him a side-hug and kept his arm around his shoulders to comfort an emotional Raut.
Adipurush stars Prabhas as Raghava, Saif Ali Khan as Ravana and Kriti Sanon as Janaki. At the event, Raut praised ‘Darling’ Prabhas and said the film wouldn’t have been possible without the superstar’s support.

“I have said this before, I would have not been able to make this without darling (Prabhas). If there is anything that makes Adipurush what it is, it is darling. I just want to tell everyone that this is not our film– this is your film, this is everybody’s film. Adipurush is the film of India,” the director said.
Adipurush’s campaign began in October last year when the makers launched the film’s teaser and were immediately subjected to extreme backlash for its substandard visual effects. The movie was eventually moved from its intended January release owing to additional VFX work. The makers dropped its first trailer last month, which was received better.
