Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife Anjana Pandey (Aaliya) on Tuesday said the duo is finally heading towards a divorce. Nawazuddin had recently filed a defamation suit in the Bombay High Court against his brother Shamasuddin and estranged wife Aaliya. Siddiqui had sought Rs 100 crore as damages for the defamation and harassment he allegedly faced owing to misleading claims made by them. The suit is likely to be heard on March 30.

In an interview with ETimes, Aaliya said Nawazuddin “reached out for a settlement” but she hasn’t responded to the same yet. She said divorce will happen, “that’s for sure”, and that she would also be fighting for the custody of the children.

“Nawaz has also filed for custody but I will not let that happen. Both my kids want to stay with me and don’t want to live with him,” Aaliya said.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui through the suit sought an injunction to permanently restrain the two from defaming him and sought that they be directed not to publish any defamatory content on social media platforms.

Nawazuddin also sought direction to the two defendants to withdraw allegedly defamatory allegations made against him by them on social media platforms and issue a written public apology for defaming him. The actor further sought direction from the court to his brother and estranged wife to make complete disclosure related to the persons they had approached to allegedly spread false and malicious information.

“Following the disclosure, the two may be restrained from disposing of or dealing with their assets in any manner, especially which may adversely affect Siddiqui from recovering the damages caused or other pecuniary remedies from them which the court may deem fit and proper,” the plea had stated.
