Three years after actor Shah Rukh Khan allegedly got into a argument with a security guard at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR) on Friday directed the Mumbai Police to register an FIR against the actor.

Khan had in 2012 reportedly abused a security guard at the stadium when the latter refused to let him enter the stadium ground with his children after an Indian Premier League cricket match, and the Marine Drive police had at the time registered a Non-Cognisable complaint (NC) against the actor.

Advocate Abha Singh, subsequently, approached the children’s commission seeking action against Khan for using abusive language in the presence of his children.

“The commission, in a detailed order, directed the Mumbai Police to file an FIR against Khan under the Indian Penal Code and the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act, 2006. The commission has also ordered an inquiry for not registering an FIR in this matter,” Singh said on Friday.

Mumbai Police spokesperson DCP Dhananjay Kulkarni said, “We are waiting for the order. Once we have the order, we will go through it and take appropriate action.”

Police officials said Khan’s children wanted to play on the ground and the guard refused them entry. Khan reportedly got into an argument with the guard and allegedly used abusive language. Khan had later said that he was upset when he saw the guard manhandle his daughter and reacted the way any father would have.

The Mumbai Cricket Association had imposed a five-year ban on the actor, forbidding him to enter the stadium premises.
