Mayoori Kango, once a rising Bollywood star who shared screen space with Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, and several other A-listers, stepped away from the limelight to build a career in the corporate world. After working at Google and other leading organizations, she has now joined the leadership team of Publicis Global Delivery. She is also the CEO of Publicis Global Delivery India.

Who is Mayoori Kango?

Mayoori Kango, born and brought up in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, completed her schooling at Saint Francis De Sales School and later studied at Deogiri College. Her mother, a popular theatre artiste, inspired her passion for acting.

On 28 December 2003, Mayoori married Aditya Dhillon, an NRI, and the couple was blessed with a son in 2011.

Acting career

Mayoori Kango began her Bollywood journey with Naseem (1995). Although she had secured admission to IIT Kanpur, she chose to give up her academic dream to pursue acting. The film went on to win two National Film Awards — for Best Direction and Best Screenplay.

Impressed by her performance, Mahesh Bhatt offered Mayoori the lead role in his next film, Papa Kehte Hain (1996). The movie’s iconic song, “Ghar Se Nikalte Hi,” made her a household name and cemented her place in Bollywood.

Mayoori Kango went on to appear in films like Betaabi (1997), Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet (1999) alongside Ajay Devgn, Badal (2000) with Bobby Deol, and Vamsi (2000) opposite Mahesh Babu. Mayoori also made her mark on television, starring in the serials Dollar Bahu (2001) and Karishma – The Miracles of Destiny (2003), where she portrayed Karisma Kapoor’s daughter.

Joining the corporate world

At the peak of her acting career, Mayoori Kango decided to step away from the film industry and pursue a completely different path. In 2003, she married NRI Aditya Dhillon and moved to the United States, where she shifted her focus back to academics. She earned an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Baruch College, New York, graduating in 2007.

Mayoori began her corporate journey with 360i, a digital marketing company, as an Associate Media Manager. In 2009, she joined Resolution Media and later moved to Digitas as Associate Director (Media).

In 2012, Mayoori returned to India and took on the role of Chief Digital Officer at Zenith. She later served as Managing Director at Performics before joining Google India in 2019 as Head of Industry – Agency Partnerships. In 2024, she was promoted to Industry Head for AI, Martech, and Media Solutions.

Mayoori Kango is now the CEO of Publicis Global Delivery, India, and a part of the leadership team at Publicis Global Delivery.

Mayoori rejoined Publicis Groupe in August 2025. While sharing an update in a note on LinkedIn, the former actor wrote, “In this role, I’ll be partnering with the PGD global team to shape our global solutions and services across media, tech, and digital — while also stepping up our AI practice. Having seen firsthand how AI is transforming the way we work, create, and connect, I’m especially excited about harnessing its potential to reimagine the future of marketing and media. I’ll also be wearing a second hat as CEO for our India Delivery Center, where I’m looking forward to working with our talented teams to push boundaries, innovate, and create meaningful impact for Publicis clients worldwide.”
