While Om Raut’s mythological film Adipurush continues to face significant criticism from all corners, particularly for its subpar visual effects and colloquial dialogues, Manoj Muntashir, the film’s dialogue writer and lyricist, has now said that he completely trusted Om Raut during the making of the film and asserted that all questions regarding its story and screenplay should be asked to Raut.
During an interview with Zee News, when the anchor asked Muntashir how the makers got the idea to include a scene showing Lord Lakshmana receiving information about sanjivini booti from Vibhishan’s wife, the writer stated that the interviewer should ask director Om Raut all the questions related to characters and history. “That’s the relation between story and dialogues… dialogues are written for stories and without a story, there is no purpose for dialogues,” he added.
“Our story is just inspired by Ramayana. Our film’s title itself is Adipurush. It is extracted from one corner of Ramayana’s Yuddha Kand. We have not shown the entire Ramayana. When we are talking about Adipurush, which was heavily inspired by Ramayana, there should be no questions pointed towards me about the adapted screenplay and story. The only questions that remain are about the dialogues. The producers of the film and I have already announced that the dialogues that you did not like would be changed,” he stated.
When the interviewer asked him again where the makers received the inspiration to write a scene showing Vibhishan’s wife bringing information about sanjivini booti, pointing out that someone should answer questions related to such aspects of the movie, Muntashir said: “In the credits, it is clearly mentioned that I have penned only the dialogues and song lyrics for the film. Om Raut will give such perfect answers to all your queries that you will no longer have doubts regarding them. But for this, you will have to speak to him.”

“Will you write dialogues without even checking if they are true or they make sense,” the anchor asked, to which Muntashir replied: “It’s teamwork and I completely trusted Om Raut. My assumption was if Om Raut extracted this story, he would have definitely had all the references.”
The makers of Adipurush on Sunday decided to change certain controversial dialogues of the film after they received backlash for “distorting and disrespecting” the epic.
The backlash prompted Muntashir, a three-time national award winner, to release a statement that he penned more than 4,000 lines in Adipurush but some sentiments got hurt “because of five lines”.
“I can give countless arguments in favour of my dialogues, but this will not reduce your pain. I and the producer-director of the film have decided that some of the dialogues which are hurting you, we’ll revise them. They’ll be added to the film this week. May Shri Ram bless you all,” he said.
Meanwhile, the screening of all Hindi movies will be banned in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu from Monday over the “objectionable” words and depiction of Sita in Adipurush, a top city official announced on Sunday.
