Manoj Bajpayee says wife Shabana forbid him from doing ’embarrassing’ films: ‘I am ready to leave Mumbai and live in your village but ye sharmindgi…’

Manoj Bajpayee also revealed how his wife had an emotional outburst after watching the film Aligarh.

Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee took a trip down the memory lane and recalled how his wife Shabana Raza reacted after watching his best and worst films. Manoj also revealed that they often argue because he doesn’t share the script with her. He prefers to keep the element of surprise intact, wanting to see her genuine reaction after watching his films.

In an interview with The Lallantop, Manoj said, “Shabana has the complaint that I don’t share scripts with her. Because I like giving surprises to Shabana. I wait for the reaction and emotions that follow after surprising her. The biggest compliments and criticism I get are by Shabana. So whatever she feels after seeing the film should be first. So only I don’t share scripts and she complains a lot about it. There have been fights about the same.”

The actor recalled the time he showed his wife the film Aligarh in Hansal Mehta’s edit room. Manoj said that he and Hansal chatted while Shabana watched the film. He said, “I went inside and the film had just ended. I was like ‘has it ended?’ Shabana did not even look at me, she went straight out and climbed down four floors, took an auto and went home. She cried a lot at home. So I wait for reactions like this.”

Manoj also said that there are reactions like ‘yeh kya bakwaas hai?’ The actor, who didn’t mention the name of the film, said that his wife was very upset over it. She called him and said, “Apne jeevan mai, kisi sharmindagi wale kaam karne se pehle soch lena ki mujhe tumse ashayein hai. Aage se mujhe aise sharmindagi ka ehsaas bilkul nahi chahiye.” She added, “We can go to Delhi or we can go back to your village and settle down. But I don’t want such type of embarrassment.”

On the work front, Manoj will next be seen in the film Joram. Devashish Makhija has directed the film.
