Director Farhad Samji has opened up about the memes that surfaced online after the song Naiyo Lagda from Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan was released. The filmmaker said that he was aware about how the song sparked a meme fest, and how internet users mocked Salman Khan’s hookstep.
Samji, who was a part of Insta Live with Ashwini Kalsekar, said, “Naiyo lagda is a negative word, but has proved to be positive for us. Naiyo Lagda sabko lagda (Everybody likes Naiyo Lagda).”
The director added, “Yeh memes aur yeh reels bante hai toh tab pata chalta hai ki kis tarah se woh phailta hai. Toh abhi aur bhi songs aayenge, trailer aayega toh fingers crossed.” (When reels and memes are made, we understand that up to what extent the word has spread about the song. There will be more songs and the trailer will come too).
During the Bigg Boss 16 finale, Salman unveiled the song Naiyo Lagda, also featuring Pooja Hegde. Salman’s unusual dance moves, in which he brought his knees to the floor, were likened to lunges at the gym and internet users could not keep calm after spotting the similarity.
One of the fans said, “Sallu bhai is literally doing his leg day workout in the Naiyo Lagda song. Song is good but the choreography is s**t af.” Another said, “When There is no Dance Step left, Salman Khan invents a new step. The best dancer out there! Smooth Leg Shakes.”
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is all set to hit the theatres this Eid. The film also stars Bhumika Chawla, Jagapathi Babu, Abhimanyu Singh, Vijender Singh, Raghav Juyal, and Shehnaaz Gill among others.
