Late legendary singer Kishore Kumar‘s son Amit Kumar has opened up about his father’s four marriages in many interviews. While he never interfered with the singer’s choices, Amit, son of his wife Ruma Guha Thakurta, shared a neutral relationship with each of his stepmothers, especially late actor Madhubala. In a recent interview with Vickey Lalwani, the singer-actor spoke about living with Kishore Kumar and Madhubala for a while, and the relationship his father’s ex-wives shared with each other.

When the host asked Amit if was living with his father and stepmother, he shared, “Yes, I would. I was comfortable. I never grumbled about anything. I used to call her ‘mummy’ only. She used to come here also once or twice. I had a habit of kicking a lot while sleeping at night. Madhu ji used to sleep in between me and baba. Main per maarta tha, mujhe maalum nahi (I would kick in my sleep).”

He further added, “She then once told him, ‘Aapka ladka bahut laat maarta hai (your son kicks a lot)’. He took immense care of her. He took her to London for treatment. They were a fantastic, superhit pair.”

Amit Kumar also revealed that he was never against his dad for getting married to three other women after separation from his mother. “I got love from both the parents. I loved both and they saw to it. I used to come to Mumbai during holidays, it was like heaven to me. I used to keep thinking when will I meet him. He used to come to Calcutta sometimes,” he said.

In fact, Amit’s mother Ruma and Kishore Kumar’s fourth wife Leena Chandavarkar lived together in the same house for several years. “Leena ji and my mother were staying in the same house for 12 years. We all used to sit and eat food together. They were all so broad-minded. I am lucky that way. I really love my parents, I miss them. They taught me these things,” he expressed.

Singer Kishore Kumar or fondly remembered as ‘Kishore da’, passed away in 1987, due to a heart attack.
