Kiara Advani and Kartik Aryan launched the music of their upcoming film Satyaprem Ki Katha in Mumbai on Wednesday. Kiara, who is celebrating five years of her film Kabir Singh with Shahid Kapoor, said that her character in Sameer Vidwans directorial is her “most sensitive role” she has ever portrayed. She said, “I can finally say this, I think this is my most sensitive/ role/ character/ portryal in any film that I have done.”

Kiara then revealed that this film was offered to her before the pandemic but unfortunately it didn’t take off then but eventually came back to her. She said, “This film actually came to me before Covid before anyone was attached to the project. Shaheen and Karan (Producer Shareen Mantri Kedia of Namah Pictures and writer Karan Srikant Sharma) had come to me, at that time it was only both of them. I had heard this story and thought it was so beautiful.

Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, we didn’t go ahead with it. Then suddenly there was an announcement from Sajid (Nadiadwala) sir with Kartik, but I didn’t know it was the same film that I had heard years ago. During Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Kartik and I were chatting about it and he told me that he was doing this film and this was the story… I had no idea it was the same film and then it came back in my life. Some films are just destined to happen. It was my destiny to be Katha, to play this role.”

Kartik also spoke about the film, “Satyaprem Ki Katha se purane zamane ka cinema wapas aa raha hai (Satyaprem Ki Katha is bringing back the old charm of Bollywood). This film is very precious for me, for all of us. I have been too involved in this film, like never before because I am proud of this film. In my filmography, I can say I am most proud of this film.”

The actor then opened up on why he and Kiara have not been promoting this film. He said, “It was our conscious decision that we will focus on the content. We have promoted several films but not all films can be promoted in the same way. We are still going through a process where the marketing team and the film team came up with the decision that we will only push for the content and that we’ll start promoting the film close to its release date. That’s what we are following, and this is our first event promoting this film.”

“I remember how I promoted Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 by visiting every city and climbing on roofs. But I think a lot of times, change is very necessary. For a lot of films we can’t have the same promotional technique,” he added.

Kiara and Kartik shared the screen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 last year. When asked how it feels to share the screen with Kartik again, Kiara said thankfully this time the actor didn’t make her wait on the film set for too long like he did while shooting Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.

Kiara said, “Both of us have grown a lot from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 to now, we have grown professionally and personally. I used to scold Kartik, would tell him not to come late this time over and make me wait. We have grown, I feel. That was a different film. This film required us to surrender a lot more to our characters. A love story like this is very intriguing. Nobody knows what the hook is, yet, and is beautifully told in the film. I don’t think I saw him as Kartik or he saw me as Kiara…we looked at each other as Sattu and Katha. There was never a feeling of what has happened in the past. As you work with someone you know how an actor reacts but here we couldn’t predict as we both didn’t know what our lines were going to be.”

Satyaprem Ki Katha, directed by National Award winning filmmaker Sameer Vidwans, is scheduled to release in theatres on June 29.
