Kareena Kapoor Khan has been working in the industry for over two decades. The actor recently opened up about starting in showbiz as a mere teenager, and finally building her way to the top as an established star working today.
In an interview with Mirror Now, Kareena said she was maybe a bit brash when she was younger, but the industry and her journey in it has taught her a lot: “When you are younger, you are brash. But you grow with experiences. The industry has helped me grow, from an 18 year old to a now 42 year old woman, and I wear that very proudly on my sleeve. Today, I am the queen of my own castle and am very happy. What I mean by that is I take my own decisions. I choose not to do more, because I want to balance my family life with my career. It doesn’t mean everyone has to do it.”
The actor also spoke about stardom and her upcoming film Crew, where she will be seen sharing screen space with Tabu and Kriti Sanon. The actor said that female stars are far more comfortable than their male counterparts to share screen, adding, “Stardom has been taken over by performances and good scripts. You can’t really call anyone a hero or heroine any more. Whether you are male or female, it doesn’t matter. I was super excited when Rhea Kapoor came to me with Crew. I think three female superstars have more courage together to be in one frame. I am not quite sure about the male superstars, have they done that? No guts, no glory.”
Later, she was also asked if there is any parenting advice she would like to dish out to new father, actor and cousin Ranbir Kapoor.
The actor simply said, “I didn’t take any advice, and I don’t give any advice. That is just the way I am. I am not an expert at all, each day I am trying to do the best by my child.” Kareena is the mother of two kids, Taimur and Jeh Ali Khan. The actor was also quizzed about the first films of both the parents she would want her children to watch. “Saif’s Dil Chahta Hai and mine, Jab We Met, for that warm feeling,” the actor signed off.
Kareena Kapoor is married to Saif Ali Khan. They have two sons — Jeh and Taimur. Saif also has two children from his previous marriage with Amrita Singh — Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan.
