Actor and content creator Poonam Pandey shared that she is alive, a day after her official Instagram handle and her manager announced that she has died of cervical cancer. Known for her publicity stunts and controversial statements, Poonam made an appearance on social media and said, “I feel compelled to share something significant with you all – I am here, alive. Cervical Cancer didn’t claim me, but tragically, it has claimed the lives of thousands of women who stemmed from a lack of knowledge on how to tackle this.”
On Friday, the news of her death took over the internet and celebrities like Kangana Ranaut, Karanvir Bohra, Aly Goni shared their condolences on social media.
Kangana Ranaut, who was a host of the reality show Lock Upp where Poonam was a contestant, took to her Instagram and wrote, “This is so sad, losing a young woman to cancer is a catastrophe. Om Shanti”
Karanvir Bohra, who was also a participant on the reality show, said that he met Poonam ten days ago and was in disbelief. He shared with India Forums, “I am still in disbelief. I just met her ten days ago.” He then tweeted, “I’m still in disbelief #PoonamPandey I pray this news is not true 🙏🏼”

Actor Aly Goni shared, “Rest in peace poonam 💔🙏🏼 #poonampandey.” Karan Kundrra, who played the role of a jailer in the reality show Lock Upp told Zoom Entertainment, “Oh my god! I have no idea about this. How did it happen? It is very sad and heartbreaking news. I just need to call some people now.” Singer Danish Alfaaz commented on the Instagram, “what??? this is really sad💔💔”

The statement on Poonam’s Instagram handle on Friday read, “The statement read, “This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared.”
