For centuries together, strong-willed women were often forbidden to think for themselves, and penalised for just doing the basic requirement of a human being. While they were called many names, one such was branding them as ‘witches’. Recently, responding to a X post where the user urged people to ‘not be afraid of witches, but the ones who burned them’, Kangana Ranaut wrote a compelling post underlining the need to reclaim the term, and embrace the nuances of the conversation.

Here’s Kangana’s post
Kangana wrote, “Witches are women who are connected to their higher self, their intuition, infectious free spirit, indomitable will power and uncontrollable urge to break all boundaries make them mysterious, frightening and threatening to those who are caged and cursed, caged people believe that gifted people have some evil powers and they must be burnt to ashes, misery exists in so many forms and jealousy is the most miserable of them all. You can choose to be jealous or be inspired, make a smart choice, those who choose to be inspired are the chosen ones, break the cage and break free.” Even as many responded positively to this post on her X profile, actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared this post on her Instagram story with the caption, “Word, Kangana Ranaut”
This mutual admiration club got extended when Kangana responded to Samantha’s shout out with a heart emoji, and established that women having each other’s backs is the only way to go ahead in this journey.

On the acting front, the actor-politician is currently awaiting the release of her directorial venture, Emergency, which has been delayed due to censorship issues. Meanwhile, Samantha has Citadel: Honey Bunny up for streaming on Prime Video from November 7.
