Subhash Kapoor’s courtroom comedy Jolly LLB 3 brings together the leading men and titular characters of the previous two instalments of his popular francise — Arshad Warsi from Jolly LLB (2013) and Akshay Kumar from its sequel Jolly LLB 2 (2017). While the threequel has long surpassed the lifetime domestic box office earnings of the first part, it’s still trending behind the sequel after six days of release.

On Wednesday (day 6), Jolly LLB 3 added another Rs 4.25 crore to its total collection. That is the film’s lowest-single day earnings yet. It’s a significant drop from the Tuesday (day 5) collection of Rs 6.5 crore, which was at least an improvement on the earnings of Monday (day 4) at Rs 5.5 crore. The film saw a major fall on Monday after its impressive opening weekend, among the top 5 for Hindi films this year.

Jolly LLB opened at Rs 12.50 crore on September 19. Its earnings increased to Rs 20 crore last Saturday (day 2) and then to Rs 21 crore last Sunday (day 3). As per Sacnilk, the current box office collection of the film in India stands at Rs 69.75 crore. It’ll cross the Rs 70 crore mark today, but it still trends behind Jolly LLB 2, which earned over Rs 72 crore in the first six days of release.

While Jolly LLB 3 scored a higher opening weekend, it didn’t manage to maintain the same momentum going into the weekdays. Jolly LLB 2 earned an edge on that front. That film, also helmed by Kapoor and starring Akshay in the lead, went on to garner Rs 117 crore at the domestic box office. It’s yet uncertain whether Jolly LLB 3 will manage to cross the Rs 100 crore mark, given its current trajectory.

The film has no competition in near sight. While it released alongside Anurag Kashyap’s action comedy Nishaanchi, starring Aishwarya Thackeray and Vedika Pinto, that movie managed to make only Rs 1.16 crore in the first six days of release at the domestic box office. While there’s no new major Hindi release this week, Jolly LLB 3 will face fresh competition from the Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti releases next week on October 2. These include Shashank Khaitan’s romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, and the Hindi dubbed version of Rishabh Shetty’s Kannada mythological action epic Kantara: Chapter 1.

Jolly LLB 3 sees Akshay and Arshad’s titular characters go up against each other at the court, till they join forces to support the cause of prevention of farmer suicides. Saurabh Shukla reprises his role of the judge in the threequel. Amrita Rao and Huma Qureshi also return as the leading ladies of the first two parts respectively. The film also stars Gajraj Rao as the chief antagonist, alongside Seema Biswas. It’s produced by Star Studio 18.
