Jaya Bachchan explains why she is absent from social media: ‘There’s enough that the world knows about us’

Jaya Bachchan said that the world knows enough about the Bachchan family and they don't need to share more on social media.

Jaya Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan and Navya Naveli Nanda have been discussing their life and work on the latest season of their podcast What The Hell Navya. On the upcoming episode of the podcast, the three women will discuss social media and in a recent promo, Jaya revealed that when she was young, the technology was at a level where they had to book calls.

Jaya shared, “When I was young, we had to book a call and there were two types of calls, one was ordinary and the one was an emergency call. If you spoke to your boyfriend, it had to be an emergency call.” Jaya was born in 1948. She dated husband Amitabh Bachchan for a couple of years before they got married in 1973.

In another part of the promo, Jaya Bachchan spoke about sharing her life on social media and said, “There’s enough that the world knows about us. We don’t need to share on Instagram.” Jaya does not have a social media handle but other members of the Bachchan clan have an active social media presence.

In an earlier episode of the podcast, Jaya Bachchan spoke about negative comments on social media. “If you want to comment, then comment positively. But no, you just give your verdict,” Jaya said. When Navya mentioned that the trolls would never dare say such things to Jaya to her face, the veteran actor said, “They won’t have the courage.” She then added, “If you are actually brave, then comment on actual issues and show your face.”
