On the latest episode of What the Hell Navya, Jaya Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan and Navya Naveli Nanda discussed food in the Bachchan household. As the family members shared their food secrets, they also spoke about their cooking adventures. During the episode, the women shared that certain dishes are named after members of the family, and Amitabh Bachchan loves one dish more than anything else.
Shweta shared that she loves to make complicated recipes, but the dish that she is best known for is pasta. Jaya shared that Amitabh gets ‘very upset’ when he is offered pasta that is not made by Shweta. Navya said, “Nana always says ‘I will eat Shweta’s pasta.’ Everyone knows what that pasta is.” Jaya also added, “He gets very upset. If you say pasta, he’ll say ‘Is Shweta making it?’ If you say no, he will say, ‘No, tell her to make it’.”
Navya, who claimed that she loves to eat excessively spicy food, said that she once made Jaya and her brother Agastya Nanda cry with her cooking. She recalled, “Remember when I made you and Agastya cry?” She then shared the anecdote and said, “One day, I was like I’ll make pasta for both of you and they were like okay. So I went and I made that aglio olio with garlic and chilli and I put so much red chilli that they were crying while they were eating. They were like ‘are you trying to kill us?’ There’s so much chilli in this pasta.”
The women shared that theirs is a cosmopolitan household that likes to indulge in different kinds of food, but apart from all the diverse cuisines they enjoy, they make sure to have rajma once a week. Shweta said that ever since her kids were in school, she would make rajma once a week, but Jaya said that she doesn’t like the popular north Indian dish.
