Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster movie Jawan, which made its theatrical debut on September 7, continues to dominate the box office, posing a challenge to new releases. On its 24th day in theatres, the film raked in an impressive Rs 9.25 crore, as reported by the industry tracker, Sacnilk. This brings the film’s total collection to a staggering Rs 596 crores. The mass actioner started its fourth week in the theatres on a good note as it collected Rs 6 crore on Thursday and Rs 5 crore on Friday.
Helmed by Atlee, Jawan has made over Rs 1000 crore worldwide, and since it is a long weekend, with Monday being the Gandhi Jayanti holiday, it looks like the film will cross some more milestones. By the end of Sunday, the film will cross the Rs 600 crore mark in India too. Also, to boost the ticket sales of their film, the makers of Jawan recently offered a ‘buy one get one free ticket’ offer.
Shah Rukh has outdone himself with Jawan as the film made Rs 1055 crores globally, becoming the second-highest-grossing Bollywood film. Previously, Shah Rukh’s Pathaan held that record with Rs 1050 crore worldwide. The top spot is still held by Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which made Rs 2000 crores. However, it’s important to note that a major chunk of these earnings came from China, and neither Pathaan nor Jawan were released there.
This Friday two new movies were released — The Vaccine War and Fukrey 3. However, Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War couldn’t pull the audience to theatres and earned Rs 1.50 crore on Saturday. On the other hand, Fukrey 3 had a decent start, despite the strong competition from Jawan. On Saturday, Fukrey 3 earned Rs 11 crore, bringing its total collection to Rs 27.93 crore.
Jawan was recently screened at The Himalayan Film Festival in Leh and impressed the audience. Besides SRK, the film also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Deepika Padukone in pivotal roles. Atlee recently opened up about making Jawan 2 and said in an interview with Pinkvilla, “See every film of mine has such kind of [open] ending. I never thought of doing a sequel to any of my films. I gave an open arc to it and if something strong comes to me, definitely I will come up with it (sequel). Let’s see.”
