Janhvi Kapoor carried a yet another jaw-dropping look at the 78th Cannes film festival. The actor exuded vintage vibes with her third look this season. She paid homage to a classic Christian Dior couture piece from 1957, which is a rare find from their historical collection.
To attend the press event of her much-anticipated film Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, Janhvi made her fashion statement with the old-school slub silk black dress, from Dior’s late 1950s collection. The dress had a sculpted neckline and a tailored silhouette. It also had a classic silver brooch, adding a sparkle to her dress. She also wore black velvet gloves, which were mostly worn by mid-century Hollywood icons to bring cinematic drama to their appearance.
Janhvi Kapoor’s stylist Rhea Kapoor, who shared a bunch of black-and-white photos of her look on Instagram, wrote in the caption, “Today in Cannes with @janhvikapoor for press in Christian Dior 1957 haute couture black slub silk dress. Viva la.”

Along with the simple black dress, the actor donned minimal accessories, with just a pair of classic diamond studs. Her hair was tied in a bun, pulled back sleek, giving a neat completion to her look. She opted for a thick retro winged eyeliner and a nude lip shade for her makeup highlights.
Janhvi made her debut at the Cannes film festival red carpet to attend the premiere of her film, in a pink saree. In a video shared by Vogue India, she shared that is was her mom, late actor Sridevi’s favourite place. “This place was actually mom’s favourite place to come to for holidays. And we spent three or four consecutive summers here. It was like a big thing with us as a family. Every time mom would do something, every time she was getting an award or her movie was… I remember English Vinglish… I think it premiered at the Toronto Film Festival or Dad was shooting somewhere… All of these big life moments, we’d always be together as a family and experience together and celebrate together,” she said.
Janhvi Kapoor was joined by her Homebound co-stars Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa, and the film’s producers Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra from Dharma Productions at Cannes. After the film’s premiere, the audience erupted in applause and received an overwhelming response.
