Isha Koppikar says divorce with Timmy Narang was ‘tough’: ‘It was his decision to move on’

Post her divorce, Isha moved out of the Narang House in Pali Hill, Mumbai and that was a challenging phase in her life. Isha shared in her interview that the biggest challenge was to explain to her daughter why they were moving out of the house, but it all went smoothly. Isha also added that they are co-parenting their daughter. Isha said she bought a house close to Narang House so her daughter could be close to her father and cousins. “We may have moved on as husband and wife, but we are together as parents for our daughter, and that will never change, ” she said.

Isha also added how she and Timmy are ‘more like friends now’ and added, “I think relationships improve when you do not expect anything from each other.”

Isha shared about the emotions she went through at the beginning of her divorce and said there was a lot of fear because she didn’t know how to restart. Her daughter had grown up in a certain environment, and she wanted to give her something that would be conducive to her growth. However, her faith carried her through.

Talking about the main reason for the divorce, Isha said it is hard to pinpoint what went wrong as they just drifted apart. She explained it was his decision. “He said, ‘This is not working out’. And I said, ‘Okay, fine’. Then, we just parted ways.”

Isha added that only mature people can take decisions like these as it is easy to make each other’s life miserable by just hanging in there. It’s tough to move on and take separate paths, but they decided what was good for their growth. She felt if he wanted to move on, she should step back.

Isha added that during the phase was when Timmy announced their divorce at a time when she wasn’t ready for it. Timmy had shared then that the couple were “contemplating divorce” for almost a year and a half. The divorce was granted in November last year and it was on “amicable terms”.

On this Isha said it was irresponsible of him because she wanted their daughter to accept it slowly. He later agreed that it was a blunder and apologised for it.

Isha Koppikar, who has not been active in Bollywood of late, is now focusing on her work. She also shared that for a long time, people didn’t even know that she wanted to work.

She said she is back and is meeting people. “I am focused and I will work hard,” shared Isha.
