Shah Rukh Khan’s wife and entrepreneur Gauri Khan’s new business venture — Torii — a posh restaurant in Mumbai is touted as one of the most sophisticated fine dine restaurant in the city of Dream. Gauri, recently took to social media to share inside glimpses of her restaurant and it exudes unparalleled quality and glamour.
Sharing a video giving a tour of the restaurant, Gauri wrote on Instagram, “Torii, where culinary excellence meets sophisticated ambiance. Venturing into restaurant design sparked a world of creativity for me. We have created a refined and opulent dining experience where every detail exudes unparalleled quality and glamour.” Watch the video here:
Torii, the restaurant based in the luxurious neighbourhood of Pali Hill in Khar, Mumbai serves progressive Asian cuisine and is often thronged by celebrities. In the video we see the bar in the restaurant with red and gold decor and ambient lighting. The restaurant has red and green table tops and boasts of beautiful floor to ceiling windows from where one can see the busy city pass by.
In the video Gauri, along with the restaurant’s head chef, explains the concept behind the restaurant. She says, “I am so thrilled to introduce you to my very first venture in hospitality. Torii means the gateway to a temple. For us it is much more than that. Every element here has been chosen to create a warm and luxurious ambience. The signature colours of gold, red and green are very prominent throughout the space, creating an airy yet cosy atmosphere.”
Gauri launched the restaurant earlier this month, on February 14, and Shah Rukh Khan was in attendance at the launch party. Gauri’s friends Bhavna Panday, Maheep Kapoor and Chunky Panday were among those who came in to cheer for her.
Talking about debuting in the hospitality business and designing the restaurant, Gauri told indianexpress.com, ““I’ve meticulously curated every detail — from selecting colours and materials to commissioning custom artwork and lighting. My vision was to create a space that exudes refined elegance. As someone deeply passionate about design and has designed many restaurants, opening my own restaurant felt like a natural next step for me.”
