Imran Khan says his daughter Imara lives with him from Thursday to Sunday, wonders what’ll happen when he restarts working

Imran Khan spoke about his co-parenting arrangement with ex-wife Avantika Malik, and wondered if he'll be able to maintain it once he restarts working.

Former actor Imran Khan said that he doesn’t commit to any professional responsibilities from Thursday to Sunday, because that’s when his daughter Imara comes over to live with him. Imran shares custody of Imara with his former wife, Avantika Malik. In an interview, he said that if and when he begins working as an actor again, this arrangement will ‘go for a toss’, but he prefers to not worry about it now.

In an interview with Zoom Entertainment, he said, “Thursday to Sunday, I don’t take on any work because those are the days when I have my daughter with me. Because I have to take her to school, get her ready, be there and do all these things, I don’t take on work from Thursday to Sunday. I only take on work on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. If I start shooting for something, it’s going to go for a toss, but woh kal dekha jayega (I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it).”

Imran’s last film was 2015’s Katti Batti. He spent the next several years out of the public eye, taking care of his mental health after being diagnosed with depression. He re-emerged into public life in recent months after discovering that his fans are eager to see him back on the big screen, and is now prepared to take on acting jobs. In the same interview, he said that he’d like to do more ‘gentler’ roles as compared to the kind of gory action that is supposedly the flavour of the month.

Imran and Avantika began dating when they were still teenagers, and finalised their divorce a couple of years ago. He opened up about their co-parenting arrangement in an interview with Hindustan Times, and said, “I do all of the stuff for Imara without any nanny. I drive her to school myself in the morning. I pick her up. The limited amount of cooking that I can do, I do for her. I put her to bed. And that also is something that I was very conscious… rather than going off and trying to act in movies while I’m depressed. I was like, forget that. The most important thing is she should have the memory and the experience that in my childhood, my dad was the one who would drive me to school.”
